Love Vortex & The 3rd Eye

Love is a vortex. Not sure what that means but it sounds cool.  

Creating this piece was a blast. I'm learning how to slow down through the exercise of layering and color.

Step by step you see growth. Knowing when to stop is important. There are points of the painting that have gone overboard. Yet it's beautiful because it's fun.  

Surrounded by chaos today but internally at peace was where this painting came about.  

Layer upon layer i saw this piece change and grow. What stayed consistent was the peace I was feeling during the process.  

All of the material used is new to me. Creating a full painting in a sketchbook, pen sling before I paint, the paint liners and so on... But so much fun.

Forever unexpected

I'm never sure of what comes next. Unexpected events, people and situations are always happening. It's really how you act (not react) that'll show what you're made of. I've typically been highly reactive and the results were not always what was helpful to the situation.  

Anger, hot headedness and fear used to consume me for days on end. Creativity would be at an all time low and bouts of panic would be the theme.  

These days I'm fairly calm and do my best to create space for situations that rise. Expanding to allow the emotions to ride through me as you would ride through a wave. Rather than getting identified with the life situation, I let it flow through me. I don't challenge thoughts or give them time. Time is a killer. When you give time to negative feelings, situations and events more time is created. Time for feeling terrible. Creativity doesn't require time, it requires presence.  

This piece represents the cathartic exercise of most situations that would cause unnecessary suffering. Creating a piece of art rather than dwelling on events that weren't in my control to begin with is a way of transcending so called problems. I never thought much of this piece till I shared it. People have had a wonderful response towards it. It's still a mystery to me why this piece rather than some of my more comprehensive works but I'm grateful non the less.

Infinite loop

Life is an infinite loop. I get the sense that nothing is ever over. The hope for things to be over so we can sit and be happy about is is an illusion.  

Knowing this there's only 2 choices. Either accept and enjoy every moment as it comes, depending on the situation, or resist and suffer through the experienced rotations.

As I become more aware I choose to accept and on many occasions I choose to bring joy to the moment. It's worth the effort but it's not always easy. Getting identified with my ego and its desire for suffering is strong, but all I have to do is notice this and the ego ceases to exist. It's amazing when it happens, only if for a moment.

Everybody's Insane

I just realized the difference between thinking and insanity. Nothing! Absolutely nothing.

What do we perceive as the first sign of an insane person? A person that talks to him/herself out loud. 

Thinking is basically talking to yourself in your head. It's the same thing. 

This is in regards to 99% of thoughts, not the 1% that you do when you're actually solving something or doing something practical. But even then, if you're in the moment of doing it you aren't thinking, You're doing. 

Think about it! Or don't.

Dark Chocolate

Dark Chocolate | 2015 Sabet - So you are on a journey. You're looking for happiness, but it eludes you. That's cause it's nowhere to be found. It's not something you look for. It doesn't exist. You know this. Yet you keep looking. What's wrong with you? Nothing. You're Human.

It's not 'till you stop, breathe and become present that you realize that happiness isn't a constant state of being, but a transient one. It never lasts, it can't last. If you were in a state of happiness all the time you wouldn't know it after awhile. Kind of like a perfume that you've been wearing for years. You can't smell it anymore. Until you make peace with the fact that sometimes you'll be happy and other times you'll be (insert emotion here) you're not going to be happy. Now presence on the other hand is a state of being much higher than any happy emotion. When you're aware and conscious you have the capacity for all your emotions. You won't judge them as good or bad. You'll be able to be with the emotion as long as you need to. And then...
